December 4, 2008
I've had my web-site up for a couple weeks now. Haven't been promoting it much because it still has a lot of work: I need to get the gallery up and running. That's going to be a big deal, luckily a lot of the images are already online, I just need to build the site up and link them. I have a plethora of photography too, though the bulk of that I'm going to upload to Flickr... just save the REALLY good ones for the online gallery.

I went to the 242 meeting last night. I was hoping more people would show up because they had some pretty important announcements and policies to discuss: Apparently there has been an increase of injuries at the last few shows they've held there. It's not so much of a worry like "oh we might get sued", but rather there's been an increase of interest from new, young kids (which is a GOOD thing) in the underground music scene; the only problem there is many don't understand the dangers of mosh pits and hardcore dancing. Luckily there's been nothing serious, but it warrants some attention.

It sounds like it boils down to just a few individuals who simply don't pay attention and are outwardly violent (even though not malicious). Our big concern in dealing with this is that 242 could become another Higher Ground: a place which is not friendly to punk/metal culture. To sum things up: if 242 Main is to remain a community venue, the community has to step up and take part in managing the safety of its children. This means when we go to shows that could be potentially violent (the good kind of violence), we need to pay more attention to what we are doing, and what our peers are doing.

In other news, I have a week left at JDK before I move on out into the freelance market once again. It's gonna be rough, but I have a lot of contacts and should be able to get some work. If I can't get any right away, I have a lot of improvements I can make to my portfolio, which will take up a lot of my time.

For the most part, I'm looking forward to this break: I will need extra time to work on the new Nåthruzym album. I plan on pressing it to vinyl. Other news includes: Nåthruzym tee-shirts! I'm hand printing these myself and will be selling them for 10 bucks a pop to help support the production of the new album; I need to buy all new software and upgrade my interface. Not a healthy thing to do when you don't have any cash flow!
